Uncle Mike's Last Day Babysitting

I had a blast babysitting my nieces Payton and Alyson last night. "Little Ben" as Payton calls Kristin's dog, Ben, was a great help. It was good to have fun with them before I move to Arkansas!

Apartment Hunt Success!

Greetings Fam!

Kristin and I are winding up our apartment hunting trip today. It has been such a thrill to see Kristin fall in love with it here ( I was a little nervous! )

The trip started with dinner at one of the JB Hunt Vice President's home. Welcomed with a thoughtful Christmas card and a sock monkey for a fun Christmas gift, we felt at home right away. We related to each other through reference of Christmas Vacation! They have some good "Cousin Eddy's" in their family in Arkansas. After dinner, I had a little jam session with her husband and son in their recording studio/living room (so cool.)

Next, we started our apartment search. Of course, I had a three page spreadsheet for each of us, including 12 apartments we were to look at before we made our decision. After many u-turns and visits to closed leasing offices on Sunday, my spreadsheet planning yet again proved overzealous. Especially because after our first apartment visit we knew our search was over! We are so blessed with the offer we were given - a 2 bed/2.5 bath condo for the same price as the almost-too-small one bedroom we planned on seeing. We were informed some of our neighbors pay upwards of $175 more a month for the same apartment! Everything fell into place with this condo: all electric utilities, 10 minutes from work, fireplace, nice kitchen and living room, TV cords hidden in the walls, a mantle for our TV (we didn't have a TV stand), a kitchen counter/bar big enough to be our dining table (we didn't have a dining table), and the neighborhood is safe with warnings of no trespassing and 24/7 video surveillance. As sweeteners, there is a drive thru liquor store across the street that sells Kristin's favorite, rare, boxed wine! Also, there is a beautiful golf course down the street.

Kristin and I are so fortunate to have a great family, and a great job in a great area. We are confident to explore the real world together!! Thanks to all of you for the examples you have set before us, we have some models to reference while tackling these new life challenges together.

Love you all! See you at Christmas!

WooooooooOOoOOoOOOOOO Pig SOOIEEEEE!!
